Round-up on software patents

I happened to read a mind-numbing write-up on software patents a few days ago, stuff that made me sit down and think about whether software patents really achieve anything at all. I’m still not sure about where I stand on the issue; clearly, the system is a good thing, but is it broken beyond repair?

I’ve had this topic on my mind for several months but finally decided to make a post based on a particularly good piece of investigative journalism by This American Life.
